A reader comment got me thinking about paddlings that we thought were fun, but some could see them as Schadenfreude – one of those $50 dollar words.
- Pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others.
- Malicious enjoyment derived from observing someone else’s misfortune.
- Delight in another person’s misfortune.
As with most things of this period, it started with my self-declared nieces. There were four of them. In simple terms, they were there to be paddled. I was appointed as the non-nonsense Uncle to lay the paddle on them.
At their whim, additional nieces could be added. Bacall was a special case, she could be a niece or their Aunt depending on the phase of the moon. She could be masterfully, but never successfully, defend herself or she could turn a nieces bottom red.
It started months before. One niece would start a story and sent along to another niece who extended the story, perhaps in a different direction. Before it was through every female in the county was accused of misdeeds.
As those charged with a crime would be paddled, they would throw others under the bus.
If only we had recorded the dialog. It was a hoot. No one laughed longer or louder then me. It was a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Lest you think the fantasy goes too far, I also imagine my wife kicking this poor woman to the curb at bedtime.
Roughly? Being degenerates we would invite her to bed with us. No sex, but lots of cuddles.
Roughly might be the wrong word. I mean the kind of thing in the photos you posted.
The tread marks from one brat throwing another under the bus are legendary. Getting each other spanked is either all part of the fun? Or proof there’s a little bit of sadist in everyone. Probably both! Always imagined the Switch couples had the best of both worlds and the most fun.
I remember going to a movie and the whole audience would be laughing hard. You remember those times. My nieces had me in tears,

I love it! One of the nice things about a small group is it is intimate, so a bevy of naughty nieces is even more fun! I would love to have been an attendee.
The larger parties often had “CP Court” which was held on Sunday morning as the last event of the weekend. Friday night there was a complaint box where any one having a “complaint” could file a slip defining the complaint and who is was against. The appointed “judge” would listen to the complaints and decide on how many swats and with what. The spectators were given the privilege of carrying out the sentence. The twist was if the judge felt the complaint was frivolous, the the plaintiff would have to take the swats instead of the defendant.
These sessions got really raucous, and I was in stitches before the hour was over. Great fun!
The “nieces” did not come out to play at the parties. It just would not work in that environment. They would come to our house or we would go to the beach together.
